It’s true that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, but lets try to be realistic about our “treasures”. Some pointers:

• A scrap of carpet you used to catch oil in your garage for the last 5 years is not considered a “new carpet remnant”, no matter how large or “unique” it is.
• Nobody wants to buy a 15 gallon fish tank that has a “few small leaks” for $55.
• Just because you paid $800 for your treadmill 13 years ago doesn’t mean that it is worth $600 today… especially when it needs a new belt and motor.
• Your ping-pong table is not in “like new condition” when “all it needs” is a replacement table-top.

Try to keep it classy, Craigslist. Please.

I have found and sold some great deals on Craigslist. I have dealt with friendly Craigslist users and ‘users that can only be described as “assbags”…

I saw a washing machine on craigslist the other day. It was a pretty good deal, and I needed a washing machine, so I called the lady to get more details. She was on the road, but said she’d gladly call me back in 20 minutes, when she got home.

Nearly 6 hours later, she still hadn’t returned my call, so I called her back, “Hi, I called earlier about the..” (she cuts me off) “I SAID I’D CALL YOU BACK WHEN I GOT HOME! I AM STILL AT WORK AND I WON’T BE HOME UNTIL LATER TONIGHT!!!” (hangs up phone). Apparently, she didn’t remember telling me that she’d call me back in 20 minutes. Furthermore, apparently she didn’t really want to sell her washing machine. (she never did call me back)

My point is this: if you’re too busy to reply to buyers about the ad that YOU POSTED, maybe you shouldn’t have posted it in the first place. I couldn’t care less if you sell your washing machine or not, and it’s certainly not my fault that you can’t tell time. If you post an ad, it is your responsibility to follow up on it.

Make it 10 items or less or all you can carry

Make it "10 items or less" or "all you can carry"

There should be a new rule about self-checkout lanes at the grocery store, particularly Jewel because that’s where I go. It should be 10 items or less or all you can carry, especially in busy times of the day. I had to stand behind some slow ass WNBA hopeful as she clogged up the only lane open with her overfilled cart. At what point did she think that would be acceptable to the people behind her? If you think about it, because your scanning and bagging everything yourself, you are taking WAY more time doing that. And you see the picture above? Not a whole lot of room to put your items after scanning, especially when that dumb machine expects you to put the items you just scanned on that ledge.

I was über mad because I was in a rush and this predicament forced me to go into another lane that forced me to interact with people. Ugh!
